Saint Peregrine Church Mural Project

My current commission is work for the Saint Peregrine Church in Richfield, Ohio. The project is comprised of two parts: the Triumphal Arch which features two larger-than-life sized angels facing the Sanctuary and a Hetoimasia or the Empty Throne, and 750 square feet of murals depicting the life of Saint Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer patients.

Mockups for several of the depictions from the saint’s life have been drawn up, while the current focus is on completing and installing the Angels and Hetoimasia to adord the Sanctuary while the rest of the project is underway.

The goal of the depictions is to walk the viewer through the life of Saint Peregrine as they come to visit a first class relic of the saint in order to intercede for his patronage for themselves or loved ones who are fighting the battle against cancer. These pieces of art will aid in devotion to the saint and meditations on his life while visiting the shrine.

Triumphal Arch

Producing art for sacred spaces reaches back to the first Christians. A tradition this rich must be carried on! I have been privileged by skill and opportunity to humbly contribute to this legacy at St. Peregrine Catholic Church in Ohio. This first step will provide angels and other symbolic motifs to the archway framing the sanctuary of this church, which was built on inspiration from early Constantinian Architecture.

The Pair of Angels

Two angels serving as Thurafers kneel on either side of the sanctuary in permanent and unending homage to our Crucified Lord.

Gold leafed halos and three sets of wings in cascading colors make these life sized Angels truly reflect the grandeur of the Heavenly Hosts whose eyes are always fixed on our Savior.
